Someone asked me my major, and I responded…

The concept of learning to do one specific thing for the rest of my life scares me. I don’t want to learn to do only one thing, I want to learn to do multiple things. I want to learn how to boil spaghetti without having it stick to the bottom of the pan. I want to learn how to sew a long sleeved dress. I want to learn how to rock-climb. I want to learn how I can persuade others to recycle more often. I want to learn how to edit film. I want to learn how to sing and dance and act. I want to learn how to speak French. I want to learn how to walk in 7 inch heels. I want to learn how to write a good story. I want to learn how to draw a portrait of someone I love. I want to learn how to bake a chocolate croissant. I want to learn how to┬ákick-box. I want to learn how to eat cereal and milk without spilling it on myself. I want to learn how to knit a scarf. I want to learn how to be healthy. I want to learn how to unearth an ancient artifact. I want to learn how I can do everything I want; But the trouble is, there’s no major for that.
